The First Crack: On reflection, leadership, and learning to wear the capes we once gave away

On Beginning Again

Beginnings are both tender and powerful.

I am learning what it means to begin again, not in the pursuit of titles or approval, but from a place of truth. For so long, I gave away the capes I should have kept for myself, placing them on people I once looked up to, hoping they would see me, guide me, or protect me. Now I use those same capes to cover the parts of me that still ache and to honor the woman I continue to become.

This space, The Kingstugi Journal, is where I return to myself. It is a home for reflection, leadership, and purpose, a place to write through awareness and liberation, to explore what it means to live, lead, and belong with integrity.

1. Why this, why now

After years of leading, teaching, and consulting, I wanted to create a space that moves beyond performance and toward intention. The Kingstugi Journal is my offering to those navigating their own quiet turning points; leaders, creators, and seekers who are piecing together their growth with care. It is not about perfection or self-help; it is about practice, awareness, and the art of becoming.

2. What kind of community are you looking to build here

This is a space for those who believe in reflection as resistance and leadership as an act of care. I want to gather a community of readers who value depth, honesty, and purpose; people across sectors who lead with curiosity, courage, and heart. Here, we will explore how authenticity shows up in our work, our relationships, and our choices.

3. Be specific

The Kingstugi Journal will offer essays, letters, and reflections on leadership development, belonging, and the ongoing work of becoming whole.

  • Posts will come a few times each month.

  • Free subscribers will receive essays and reflections.

  • Paid subscribers (coming soon) will receive deeper explorations, leadership resources, and invitations to intentional dialogue spaces.

Thanks for reading The Kintsugi Journal! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
